This comes courtesy of my friend Karen, discovered in the Sunday Mirror newspaper.
The paper's use of 'prey' rather than 'pray' does strike up amusing images in my head of this player hunting small animals or something on the pitch, not exactly what the newspaper hoped to convey I'm sure.
Get It Write
Welcome to my blog, focusing on the mistakes and downright bad English that can be found in various outlets for the written word. I have decided to record on this blog any errors I come across; whether it be emails, restaurant menus, online articles or in the printed press. I would like to stress now that my English isn't perfect and I don't know all the rules and my intention is not to berate or preach, just to inform. I will also inevitably make spelling errors and typos myself!

Clas Ohlson Manchester
I was quite excited when I found this next mistake - possibly an indication of how sad a life I lead :-)
I was mostly excited because this is an error that many many people must see everyday yet nothing has been done about it. I don't know how long it has been incorrect for as this is the first time I've seen this sign.
I saw the sign at the Clas Ohlson in Manchester Arndale Centre. It was the main store information sign at one of the entrances to the shop - see the picture below and spot the mistake!
It's a pretty clear spelling mistake, my eye was drawn straight to it - ofiice instead of office. I imagine it's not been corrected due to money constraints but it's still poor to leave it up. I wonder if any of the other signs around the shop also have this mistake or if it's just this particular sign...

Closer magazine online
I've had this one for quite some time (in fact my next few entries will be like this!). Even though I've not been posting new entries on here, doesn't mean I haven't still been on the look out for errors! :)
This next one is from Closer magazine online and it was on their competition page:
As you can see, the competition states that the film Red Lights is out on 'Blu-ray' but that the winner of the competition can win a 'blue ray' player. I'm no expert (not owning such a device myself) but I'm not sure these two things are compatible - I may be wrong of course ;-)
Always worth double checking your copy!

Groupon email
It's been a while since my last post but hopefully I'll be a bit more consistent going forward!
This latest error came to me in an email, an email from Groupon to be specific. It's not a huge error and is only a typo from what I can tell. As you can see from the below picture, 7-Peice has been typed instead of 7-Piece, a simple mistake but one that should have been checked!

PANDORA Magazine
Hello again!
My apologies for another big break from posting on this blog.
I have just received an email from PANDORA - the jewellery company who make pretty bracelets and charms, amongst other items.
Today the email had a link to their e-magazine, showing off their new 'street style' charms.
The error is a simple one - though it's not easy to tell whether it's a typo or lack of knowledge of which spelling was correct for the sentence. In the middle of the image it says 'click images too see more styles'. 'Too' of course should read 'to'.
On a separate note, I really like the New York and Rome charms (I should have made the image larger so you could see the Rome one - sorry!)

Pistachio Restaurant
Hello again everyone!
It's been such a long time - my last post was September 2011! How time flies. In all this time though I haven't been ignoring all those errors that come along.
I'll ease myself back into it with a small typing error found on the Pistachio Restaurant website here
Can you spot it?
It's within the American Breakfast description...to the right...to the right...yep that's it. I usually like my eggs scrambled rather than scrambles :)
I'm almost tempted to let them off as the menu looks delicious but I just can't do it.
Remember you can let me know if you spot any errors anywhere online, in a newspaper or magazine - anywhere as long as it isn't a general email or something!

Red or Black TV show website
Hello
This is the first post I've done so quickly and in fact it's being done while the TV show in question is still on!
I decided to play along online, just for some fun in participating and I decided to read the instructions on how to play as I didn't really know anything about the game. It was during this read through that I noticed the following spelling mistake - which just so happens to be the mistake I hate the most!
The error is in the middle sentence where it says 'You must make your choice before the countdown reaches 0 or you will loose that round.' LOOSE? It's LOSE - please people get this right! Don't even know why this error annoys me the most, maybe because it's such a common error so I see it everywhere.
